ABOUT THE SUMMER ENSEMBLE

Join the cast of Shakespearean Youth Theatre’s productions of The Comedy of Errors and Love’s Labour’s Lost, performing at the Crane Theater in Minneapolis July 2023!

REHEARSALS

May 15 - July 30 | 5 days/week | 4pm- 8pm (school year) or 11am - 3pm (summer)

AUDITIONS

Actors ages 15 - 19 may audition to join the 2023 Summer Ensemble! Auditions are February 17, 18, and 19th 2023. Please prepare one Shakespeare monologue for auditions.

CLASSICAL TRAINING
Throughout the rehearsal process, actors will study and strengthen core classical acting techniques, including:

• voice and breath work to strengthen the physical connections between the actor and the text

• movement work, including Viewpoints and stage combat with trained instructors

• Original Practices text work using the text from Shakespeare’s First Folio

• in-depth analysis of Shakespeare’s verse; poetic techniques including anthesis, assonance, metaphor, and iambic pentameter will be studied and applied in performance

• focus on the actor’s creative voice in the rehearsal room; development of each student’s personal interpretation of the text and its relevance in 2023

July 20th - August 6th at the Crane Theatre in Minneapolis, MN.

TUITION

The Summer Ensemble is a tuition-based program. Community-sponsored scholarships are available on a first-come-first-served basis. All actors invited to join the SYT Summer Ensemble will have the opportunity to sign up for financial aid!
